The Audit Commission have confirmed the appointment of BDO LLP as our external auditor for the next five years; the fee will be £120 incl. VAT, which is a reduction of £24.

The Final Draft of the Code of conduct adopted by CE – to be formally adopted by our council without change.

10. THE GENERAL CONDITION OF THE PARISH
10.1. Public Footpath/Wheelie Bins
Although the rods have been removed from the steps, the steps are degrading and the condition of this area is still considered unsatisfactory from a safety aspect. Building rubble left has now added to the problem. The wheelie bins are still present. Photos of the area to be sent to Highways/Public Rights of Way requesting this area be cleared of all obstructing items and the steps made good. – Ongoing.
10.2 The Condition of Hurdsfield/Rainow Road and Leaflets for residents.
On Rainow Road the grids and the land drain leading to the recreation ground are blocked.
The Clerk to contact the Highways Dept. regarding cleaning with a request to advise residents not to park cars on the day the cleaning is to be carried out.
- Councillor Torr to order the Silver Jubilee Cherry Tree previously agreed upon and arrange for it to be planted. The Clerk to advise the Leisure Dept.
- Councillor Wilson to purchase bulbs for the trough
- Two wagons parked on the canal bridge caused a 15 minute hold up on Tuesday 21st September at approx. 9.30am. The clerk to again report problems caused by parking on the bridge.
- The location of the proposed telecommunications cabinet has been moved. It will now blend in a little better with trees behind the cabinet.
11. Reported Burglaries
Two further burglaries have occurred within the Parish.
The Clerk to enquire if the Council can be advised by the Police of any occurrences.
12. Speed Indictor Device
The Clerk to contact Fiona Seddon for more information regarding their SID, i.e. who positions the device; ideally we would like it on the opposite side of the road from 41B Rainow road, facing upward.
Large company vehicles have been seen speeding. The Clerk to write an official complaint to the companies if details can be obtained.
The possibility of requesting a hand held speed gun to be investigated
13. WEB SITE UPDATE
Cllr. Buckingham has posted articles on the web site concerning the recent burglaries and the lovely hanging baskets onRainow Road.
A summary of the latest website usage stats is being obtained and we may upgrade the
site based on our first year’s experience
Cllr. L. Foster met with a local resident to obtain further information and will shortly produce the next episode of our “Parish History”.
Cllr. Buckley to provide photos for the history section of the web site. – Ongoing.
Cllr. L. Foster and the Clerk to liaise and produce a letter which can be delivered to Parish Residents asking for any information/photographs they may have of the Parish. – Ongoing
The Clerk to write to contact the local police to find out if confirmation can be obtained that the Three Crowns was once a police station and mortuary.
